I discovered last year, to my enormous surprise, that T.J. Maxx, of all places, has a huge selection of marked-down fancy skincare. So now I buy random rose oil/vitamin C/squalane serums for $6 when I run out of the one I have.
I just this year found what I think might be my signature perfume and it DOES make me feel so special. It makes me feel earthy and mysterious and -- against all odds -- maybe sexy?
I’m intrigued by the idea of beauty milk, any brand reccs? I too have turned away from a lot of these things due to overwhelm and budget. I do however really enjoy adornment. I love that you’re talking about this in such a sensual way and how it impacts your self esteem. I have a L’occitane shower oil that I LOVE - such a simple everyday luxury that delights me every shower.
"just a little, just enough..." This article resonates so much! Thank you for sharing! It reminds me of my own arc as well. It has been life-giving to care for myself a little bit amidst caring for others. Just a little makes a big difference. It is so sweet your husband noticed and bought you such a special gift. I think gifts mean the most to me when I feel known and noticed, like your liberty advent calendar <3 A little aside too, while objectively I am softer, saggier, wrinklier, out of shape - all the things - I actually feel more beautiful now than I ever did when I was younger. I wish I could impart that confidence and the self-worth to take care of myself to my younger self, but I think for me the learning is in the journey. xo
