Car naps used to be my favorite respite during nannying. You’re not free, but your mind is a little bit free? Your body is not technically free, but you can move it around on roads and through neighborhoods to look at all the houses. I loved it so much. Glad the baby is finding a way to sleep 💛
This is a beautiful letter to your Self ✨ Future You and Future Ben will be so happy you've recorded this time in your life, it is fleeting and insane and exhausting and all yours. Earth does get it - feels like she's hitting all the drive-throughs in town for her own sanity and survival lately, waking all us babies from our own car naps. Thank you for sharing this today xx
"These car naps feel like a maternal purgatory." Are you me!? The amount of times this phrase has gone through my mind during motherhood...
My now 2 year old is taking 2 hours naps at home with minimal fuss but there was a period of time he'd only nap in the *moving* car (he won't anymore) and then a 4 month nap strike over the summer which was brutal. And don't get me started on our night sleep journey...but hey, we're in a good place now.
I'm due with baby #2 in a few weeks and counting my blessings. I know everything changes within weeks and months. I hope to have a better perspective and mindset with baby #2 after what I've been through with the toddler. Every kiddo and mama is different, it's true.
Thank you for the wonderful words and reflection. ❤️

Just parked my car on my own baby car nap trap and checked my email and saw this. Perfect. Thank you 🙏🏻
